Born 1st May 1933.
Study of Physics and Mathematics at the University of Karlsruhe and the University of Heidelberg.
From 1960-1963 Institute of Radiation Biology at the Nuclear Research Center in Karlsruhe.
1962 Ph.D.in physics at the University of Heidelberg.
1964 and 1965 Postdoctoral Fellow of the National Institute of Health, Education and Welfare USA. Research in the Department of Molecular Biophysics at Yale University, USA.
1966 Research Associate in the Department of Radiation Chemistry at the Nuclear Research Center in Karlsruhe.
1967-1972 Research Associate at the Institute for Radiation Biology of the Westfalian Wilhelms-University in Muenster.
1972 Habilitation thesis. Dozent for Radiation Biology and Biophysics.
1977 Professor for Radiation Biology at the Medical Faculty of the Westfalian Wilhelms-University in Muenster.
At present Director at the Institute of Radiation Biology.
Research Activities in the following fields: Molecular Radiation
Biology, Photobiology, Drug targeting with radiomimetica, Radiation Action at
low doses, Radiation risk research. Specifically: The biological chromosome
aberrations from irradation effects produced by ionizing radiation and dust
inhalation from radiation particles.
Numerous publications in the above mentioned fields. Author and Co-editor of
several scientific books on radiation action, radiation epidemiology and
responsibility of scientists. Member of several scientific societies and
member of the Concerned Physicists Initiative.
